The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is a mid-range that improves in everything, with an inexhaustible 2-day battery and a large curved screen, but there is a novelty that I don’t like so much.

This smartphone, which succeeds last year’s Edge 60 Fusion, seeks to be an affordable alternative to the flagship Edge 70 series, with cameras and batteries at the height of demanding users, but for less than ₹55,224.50.

It is sold in in 2 variants, in which what changes is not RAM or SSD, but the battery: the 7,000 mAh model starts at ₹55,121.04 , and the 5,200 mAh, with less battery, costs from ₹49,596.78 .

I spent a week with the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion in its variant with more battery.

Is the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion worth buying?

In its 7,000 mAh variant, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is an upper-mid-range that I do think is highly recommended, so only its price can be disliked since it arrives with a significant increase compared to last year of more than ₹11,046.30  without improving in RAM or storage.

In the midst of the crisis of RAM and other components, no one should be surprised, but it shows that we are not in a good moment for value for money.

In the rest, the Motorola mobile impresses with its inexhaustible battery that is enough for 2 days of use and a simple and elegant design in which the curves are an ally rather than a hindrance. Its 6.78-inch AMOLED screen is bright and has an extraordinary quality.

Although somewhat more limited than I would like, it is one of those cheap smartphones that take good photos that everyone is looking for, since its main camera allows quite good results for the mid-range.

If you still like curves, its design and screen seem very good for its range.

If you are looking for a mid-range phone with a good design and a good screen, I think the Edge 70 Fusion can be a very good option., especially if you are one of those who like a feature that is beginning to be in danger of extinction: curves.

Motorola seems to have found a design formula in its mobiles with which it is comfortable, since saving a few details, from its high-end Signature to its humble Moto G67, they are all very similar, and this Moto Edge 70 Fusion does not escape this.

Back in one piece, the camera has 4 sensors, and the module is integrated into the design with smooth curves that protrude but not much… It feels like a phone that you’ve seen before, something that I don’t love, but that Google and Apple also make easily recognizable.

The material of its back is plastic, but with a nylon texture that is pleasant to the touch, in which the fingerprints are not marked, but the dust sticks too easily, and it is very difficult to remove.

I have tried the Pantone Silhouette black variant, elegant, with dark blue, green, and light blue options for the most daring, also with Pantone.

It is a particularly comfortable smartphone to hold thanks to the curves on the back and the screen, which make it feel very thin in the hand, despite what its 7.9 mm thickness and 193 grams in the 7,000 mAh variant suggest.

Not only is the screen large, at 6.78 inches, and features very narrow bezels, but the curves extend across all 4 sides for a refined look, although they are smooth and do not alter the image or generate accidental clicks.

It is also a quality panel that I think is one of the great virtues of the mobile because of how good it looks even in direct sunlight, thanks to its 5,200 nits and its 144 Hz refresh rate that allows very fluid movement and fast clicks.

And the AMOLED panel allows for the rich colors and deep blacks that I love, but unfortunately it doesn’t have my preferred feature, the always-on display.

In connectivity, although I would appreciate having WiFi 7, it remains at an acceptable WiFi 6e; in the rest, I think it meets the mark thanks to all the basics of the moment: Bluetooth 6.0, 5G, dual SIM, and eSIM support.

The jump to Snapdragon suits it very well, and the battery is 10

Motorola has not stayed only on the outside, but inside the Edge 70 Fusion has improved performance and, above all, a battery that is among the best in its price segment.

Although last year it opted for MediaTek, this time the American brandhas switched to Qualcomm and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip. Thisleaves me with a bittersweet feeling, as it is more powerful than its predecessor, but it feels somewhat outdated, as phones like the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ and the Nothing Phone (4a) already have the 4th gen.

The Edge 70 Fusion is fluid in everyday use by opening dozens of apps at once and quickly, and the performance tests are clear proof of the improvement, but in a device that rises so much in price compared to last year, when it was worth 329 euros, I think you could expect more.

In video games, I have been able to play several games of Pokémon Unite in a row without noticing overheating, and especially its screen makes it feel fluid, but it is just at the level of graphics to feel that it gives me an advantage in gaming.

Where this Motorola mobile does give a clear advantage is in battery, where The 7,000 mAh model I have tested is one of the best in the current mid-range.

The autonomy with moderate use has been 2 days in my tests, and with more intense use, it reaches a day and a half without problems as well. It has 68 W fast charging, although the charger is not included, and allows you to go from 0 to 100% in just over 60 minutes.

Motorola’s software still seems to me to be a very pure version of Android 16, although with more bloatware than a year ago, unfortunately.

For its part, I like Moto AI because it brings together all the brand’s artificial intelligence functions, although it is starting to fall a little short in this aspect compared to the competition.

An unpretentious camera, but good in color and light

The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is not intended to be one of the best cameras of the year, but it has arguments for those who want to take good photos without spending a fortune.

The main thing is that you know the lenses it has and that, despite the 4 holes in its module, only 2 are image sensors, and the third focuses on light so that the rest are more accurate. Here’s all about your camera:

• Main camera: Sony LYT-iA 710, 50 MP, f/1.8, OIS.
• Ultra-wide: 13 MP, 120°, f/2.2.
• Selfie camera: 32 MP, f/2.2.

The Edge 70 Fusion has seemed to me to be a mobile with which it is easy to take photos with good light and vivid colors, even on cloudy days when this is not so easy on most mobiles that are not worth 1,000 euros or close to it.

Although the clear winner is the main 50 MP sensor, I have to admit that the results with the 13 MP ultra-wide angle are not only correct but are also quite well calibrated in terms of lighting and tones.

If there’s one thing where the main lens of the rear camera shines, it’s also portraits.

Portrait mode works at 25, 35, and 50 mm, in all cases with the 50 MP camera. I especially recommend the 50 mm, as it has the aesthetics of the most common optics in studio photographs.

I really like the color processing and the light it adds to the face, as well as the blur, although it’s not perfect on the hair and has erased more strands than I’d like.

On the 32 MP front camera, there are lights and shadows.

While the resolution is good and the blur is surprisingly accurate in terms of depth, I find that selfies don’t improve as much in portrait mode as the rear camera, especially in bright light, as in the example above.

At Zoom, you can tell that the rear camera only has 2 sensors, because it is quite limited.. It only reaches 10x through the camera crop 1x, and the quality drops so much that I do not recommend exceeding 5x, as you can see.

The light camera doesn’t work as accurately at zoom, and that’s something that is noticeable even with the 2x, as the colors change completely (look at the track and compare it to the first photo in the gallery).

At night, its main camera with large aperture allows for a night mode that is pretty good for a mid-range.

Notice that, despite the fact that the photo does not change when you activate this mode (something that I still find somewhat confusing), the detail even in the lampposts and in the dim buildings is good, without producing overlit skies and with a natural color that is not artificial, 2 of the most common mistakes.

An interesting novelty has been the photo booth mode, which I think can please both the youngest and the most nostalgic.

Capture 4 photos in a row of you or with friends for a fun result that assembles itself in frame and you don’t even have to edit.

Finally, the sound has positively surprised me. With Dolby Atmos certification, its maximum power is quite high, and the quality is good even for listening to music at home without too many pretensions. It is not the most immersive since its main output is only the rear, and this is noticeable at high volumes.
