Amazon has announced a major update to its proprietary hardware lineup, revamping its e-book readers, entertainment devices, streaming players, smart voice assistants, and security and home cameras. It has also presented new features for its AI assistant Alexa and the new ‘Vega OS’ operating system for Fire TVs.

New Amazon Hardware Line

Amazon is well known for its e-commerce platform, but it has long also offered a line of hardware that has been growing in number, market segments, and interest. With a remarkable feature/price ratio (usually), the company not only uses it to sell its own hardware but also to increase the customer base that accesses the platform, buys products, and subscribes to its services. We leave you a summary with the news.

Kindle Scribe

Your notes, documents and books, all in one place. With built-in AI notebook summarization. Includes Premium Pen – Tungsten

The company had already revamped its line of e-book readers and had recently expanded it with the “budget” Kindle Colorsoft. Now it is focused on updating the ‘Scribe’ series, the most advanced (and expensive) of its entire offer, which arrives with three new models, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, the Kindle Scribe (3rd generation), and a parallel version, the Kindle Scribe without a front light.

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft (the first in this series with a color display) is an absolute novelty and features custom Colorsoft display technology, including a color filter, nitride LED panel, and a unique rendering engine.

The general series reaches the third generation and has also been thoroughly renewed, both in design with an ultra-thin chassis of only 5.4 mm and less weight 400g. It’s also larger, scaling from 10.2 to an 11-inch diagonal screen. The new front-lighting system uses miniaturized LEDs for a thinner bezel and more uniform illumination, while the textured glass surface improves pen friction and virtually eliminates parallax, offering an authentic writing experience.

Amazon claims that the device is backed by a new quad-core chip, more memory, and a new Oxide display. The company has also updated the included stylus, which attaches magnetically to the device and doesn’t need to be charged. Amazon includes a 3-month Kindle Unlimited subscription when you purchase any of the three devices. They will be available by the end of 2025, and the prices are quite steep: $499 for the standard Kindle Scribe, $429 for the model without a front light, and $629 for the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft.

ECHO

The novelties in smart voice speakers have perhaps been the most interesting thing about Amazon’s new hardware line, due to its greater audio processing power, new design, and readiness to unlock new generative AI experiences through Alexa+. In the renovation we can highlight:

Echo Dot Max

Amazon Echo Dot Max

Alexa speaker with room-filling sound and built-in smart home hub, designed for Alexa+, Glacier White

– Echo Dot Max. The first ‘Max’ offers almost 3 times more bass levels than the previous generation of Echo Dot and surround sound that automatically adapts to every space. For the first time, the series has been designed from the ground up with two speakers. The model features a sophisticated two-way speaker system, with a high-definition woofer optimized for deep bass and a custom tweeter to improve the clarity of high notes. Amazon has also redesigned it, removing the separate speaker module and integrating the speaker directly into the device’s housing to double the air gap and achieve fuller bass. The best Echo Dot to date is priced at $99.

Echo Studio

Our best Echo Studio yet, with immersive spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, designed for Alexa+, Glacier White

– Echo Studio. Another completely redesigned one, with better aesthetics, 40% smaller than the original, and promising the best sound you can get in a smart speaker of this size. It combines a powerful high-definition woofer that delivers deep, immersive bass, along with three strategically placed full-range drivers to create room-filling surround sound. Plus, it supports spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, some of the most advanced audio technologies now available, for a true surround sound experience. It will be available for $219.

Amazon Echo Show 8

With Spatial Audio, Smart Home Hub, ideal for open living spaces, living rooms and kitchens, includes Alexa, Charcoal

– Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11. Amazon’s display speakers are the most advanced to date and have also been revamped in design. They combine in-cell touch technology and negative liquid crystal design to enhance the viewing experience, reduce lamination layers, and maximize viewing angle. That approach promises to improve image quality, with greater clarity in both well-lit rooms and low-light environments. The visible area of the screen has also been maximized, showing more relevant content for users and complemented by a 13 MP camera for video calls. Echo Show 8 will be available for $99.99, and Echo Show 11 will be available for $219.

– Alexa Home Theater. With this new feature, you just have to connect your speakers, and the Alexa virtual assistant takes care of the rest, automatically adjusting them to the space. You can connect up to five Echo Studio or Echo Dot Max devices with the Fire TV Stick.

Fire TV

Another new feature of Amazon’s new hardware line is the Fire TV Stick 4K Select streaming device, designed to simplify the viewing experience, offering faster hardware and custom features designed to allow quick access to the desired content.

Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV Stick HD

Free and live TV, Alexa Voice Remote, smart home controls, HD streaming

This small device promises to take full advantage of the visual quality of 4K TVs, with support for HDR10+ high dynamic range, improved performance with new processors and a quick start of applications, a personalized channel guide, and a new live TV guide redesigned to offer 10 personalized recommendations based on each user’s viewing habits. Everything you need is included in the box: the device is compatible with all major streaming services and will soon support gaming experiences like Xbox Gaming and Luna as well.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select can now be pre-ordered on the Amazon portal with availability in mid-October. It is priced at $17.99.

Amazon says that home security should be simple, smart, and accessible, and its new cameras are committed to precisely that.

Blink Mini 2K+

It can be used indoors and outdoors with the Blink weatherproof power adapter (sold separately). It can now be pre-ordered for $49 with delivery from October 23.

Blink Arc

Blink Arc. In addition to the camera, Amazon’s specialty brand has unveiled Blink Arc, an all-new invention that allows two Blink Mini 2K+ cameras to be combined into a single, integrated, continuous view. Powered by a single source and mounted from a single point, it offers a 180-degree panoramic view (with a Blink Subscription Plus plan) without the complexity of multi-camera setups. Its resolution of almost 6 megapixels makes it ideal for large indoor and outdoor spaces. It will be available for $99.99.

Ring

Two novelties in this home security series that announces the new cameras and doorbells in 2K and 4K.

Ring Spotlight Cam Plus

Ring Retinal 4K Vision. Ring’s first 4K range and next-generation Retinal Vision imaging technology aim to set a new standard in image clarity. These devices capture essential details with realistic accuracy: videos that look closer to what your own eyes perceive. Retinal Vision doesn’t just capture video; it optimizes every step of the imaging process with advanced AI adjustments. It’s not just about getting sharper videos but about unlocking a new level of intelligence, where each function is more effective because the base is more accurate and closer to reality. This technology will be available in the Floodlight Cam Pro Floodlight outdoor camera with a retail price of $359.96.

– Ring Retinal 2K Vision. Amazon’s previous technology with 2K resolution is now available in two new products: Indoor Cam Plus and Doorbell Plus wired. The firm has improved pixel clarity and density to achieve a more realistic video of your property controlled from a mobile phone. They include an improved 4x zoom, low-light sight functions, and adaptive night vision for improved color vision in low-light conditions and even in the dark.

The Wired Ring Doorbell Pro ($269.99), Wired Doorbell Plus ($194.99), Outdoor Cam Pro ($216.99), Floodlight Cam Pro ($159.99), and Indoor Cam Plus ($64.99) are available for pre-order starting today and will begin shipping in mid-October.
