After this time, I can say that this laptop has made me change the perception I had of gaming equipment. Yes, it’s pure power, but without the discomfort of carrying a huge and heavy team, as has happened to me personally all these years.

It’s perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy high-quality gaming, edit content, and work seamlessly without switching between devices. The combination of an incredible display and portable design makes it easy to carry anywhere. However, the battery life does present a bit of a limitation, as you might expect. And of course, there’s the price — €2,500, which is approximately $2,930 USD or ₹1,79,000 INR — a significant investment for a gaming laptop.

Design and connectivity: ‘light’ to carry with you, ‘heavy’ to demand without worrying

From the moment you take the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 out of the box, you notice that it’s a laptop meant to be taken everywhere without becoming a burden.

It is helped a lot by its weight of less than 2 kilograms, which, compared to other gaming monsters that I have had in my hands before, is a liberation for the back. I was also surprised by the thickness, less than 2 centimeters, and still with all the power inside.

As far as my tastes are concerned, the truth is that I love that it doesn’t look excessively gamer with lights or a strident design. This Zephyrus has a sober eclipse gray finish that, in this case, does not clash too much if you take it out in a work meeting. In the end this makes you feel that it is not only good for playing but also a real all-rounder.

Speaking of the screen, although we will see it more in depth later, it is framed in very thin edges, and the hinge has just the right rigidity to make it easy to move it, but without it dancing when you use it in something more unstable.

In connectivity, Asus does not fall short: it has two USB-A 3.1 10 Gbps ports, two USB-C ports (one with Thunderbolt 4), an SD card reader, a 3.5 mm jack connector, and HDMI 2.1 to connect monitors or 4K TV without problems. Also, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

At the gaming level, the 0.2 ms response time and G-Sync support are going to work wonders if you are a fan of video games like Call of Duty or Battlefield.

In brightness, the screen reaches 400 nits in a sustained way and peaks at up to 500 nits in HDR, being compatible with Dolby Vision for compatible content. This, in Christian practice, translates into perfect visibility, wherever you are, with zero reflections thanks to the matte finish.

The 90 Wh battery surprises with the autonomy it offers despite the powerful hardware. Of course, it is far from that full day of use without having to charge it. In my case it has not reached 8 hours without having to plug it in.

To clarify that it charges quickly, but be careful because the included 240 W charger is not to be carried on the street 24/7.

Performance and software: everything you need and a little more thanks to Armoury Crate

It won’t take you too long to realize that you’re dealing with a beast. The moment you turn it on and start that piece of Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor, you’re going to feel like you have a very powerful motor in your hands.

What about multitasking, photo and video editing, and playing even the most demanding games? All of them run great. The ability to open many apps and tabs without slowing down the computer left me with a very good taste in my mouth.

I like that, despite the power, the system doesn’t heat up excessively, although mixing summer and using it on your legs is totally out of the question, and it’s quite quiet in normal tasks—not like those laptops that look like a jet taking off.

The graphics performance with the RTX 5070 is simply brutal. 2.5K games fly, and DLSS 4 technology improves performance without compromising on quality.

In my case, I’ve tried basic video games such as League of Legends, which, with this screen, becomes a wonder, and more top titles such as F1 2025 or Battlefield 6.

The software comes with Windows 11 pre-installed and Asus Armory Crate suite, which allows you to set performance modes, control fans, and customize RGB lighting. Integration is simple and boosts performance without the hassle.

With all this, is it cheap? No.

But if you are looking for something complete for everything and do not want to give up anything, this Zephyrus is a safe bet that will accompany you for many years. You know, sometimes certain investments are worth it in the long run.
