Understand the Nintendo Switch 2 RAM shortage crisis. Learn about supply chain issues, production delays & how it affects console availability now!
The price of Nintendo Switch 2 could go up due to the rising cost of RAM and storage, driven by high demand from the artificial intelligence sector.
When Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced, many agreed that the price of the hardware was reasonable, while the cost of the software was higher than expected. However, everything points to the fact that it could be the console itself that experiences a price increase throughout 2026.
The possibility of Nintendo increasing the price of Switch 2 is gaining more and more traction. Industry analysts warn that the increase in the cost of key components, especially RAM and internal storage, could force the Japanese company to rethink its pricing strategy for the console.
The Switch 2 has posted a solid sales performance since its launch, especially in Japan. However, this good start does not protect it from a problem that affects the entire technology industry: the increase in the price of essential components, such as memories.

According to a report from Niko Partners, Nintendo is currently paying significantly higher amounts for the memory and storage modules used in the console.
These components represent a fundamental part of the system’s design, so any variation in their price has a direct impact on production costs. The main reason for this rise would be the global demand for memory from data centers dedicated to artificial intelligence.
The development of AI infrastructures requires huge amounts of RAM, which has led to supply chain tensions and widespread price increases across the technology sector.
In this context, Nintendo is facing a strategic decision. The company can choose to absorb these additional costs temporarily to maintain a competitive price and protect the commercial momentum of Switch 2 or pass on part of the increase to the consumer through a price increase.
Experts believe that a possible upward revision could be applied in different ways. One option would be to set higher prices in certain markets from launch, while another would be to introduce hardware revisions in future production runs.
In addition to speculation about the price, rumors have also surfaced about the development of new Switch 2 models, although for now there is no official confirmation from Nintendo.
