New data on the desired AirPods Pro 3 continues to be revealed; Apple wants to turn them into a wearable to monitor health with cameras and biosensors. But it won’t be anytime soon.

Headphones are mainly used to listen to music or podcasts or make calls. Apple wants to turn its AirPods Pro into a device to take care of health, with cameras and biosensors.

One of the keys to Apple’s success is that, throughout its history, it has been able to find features on its devices that engage its users. And he knows better than anyone that few things are more addictive than health.

Their iPhone and Apple Watch already include functions to measure heart rate, temperature, steps, and other health factors. Apple has been working for years (without much success) on a blood sugar sensor, which would be a big draw for diabetics and people with high blood sugar.

AirPods Pro 3, focused on health

Now, according to different sources, Apple wants to keep an eye on your health… through the ears. As Apple guru Mark Gurman comments in his Bloomberg newsletter, the AirPods Pro 3 will incorporate cameras and different biosensors. Some so advanced, they could be delayed until the AirPods Pro 4.

It sounds strange that headphones include cameras, since they cannot focus at the same distance as our eyes. But according to Gurman, those cameras aren’t meant for our eyes, but for AI.

The cameras would be used so that artificial intelligence can recognize the environment. From objects to people, which he would later use for different functions related to health, the translation of conversations, etc.

As for biosensors, there are some that are not too difficult to implement, such as heart rate or temperature. Although it is not easy to measure these values from the ear.

But Apple is also very interested in everything that has to do with hearing problems. In fact, it already has official tests, regulated by doctors, which can be carried out from AirPods Pro 2.

But he wants to go further, with different tests that detect excess volume, loss of high or low frequencies, and other problems associated with hearing loss.

Tim Cook himself said it a few months ago: “It is very clear to me that, if we look to the future and look back and ask ourselves what Apple’s greatest contribution was, it will undoubtedly be health.”.

Apple wants to revolutionize the AirPods Pro 3: they will stop being simple headphones and will become real devices to take care of health. If the current models already seem expensive, wait until you find out what they will be worth in a couple of years, equipped with cameras and biosensors…
